Stereotypes China Vs Colombia

Our Colombian culture in terms of stereotypes has many similarities with Chinese culture. Similar stereotypes are found in Chinese and Colombian cultures that allow a comparison between these two cultures. In the first place, there is the stereotype that says that "the Chinese only like to eat their exotic food" and this is an aspect that has in common with the Colombian culture because Colombians, although they consume all kinds of food, prefer food of our own culture. Another stereotype to compare is that both in Colombian culture and in Chinese culture, women are limited only to their home and raising their children, they cannot work and take care of their home at the same time because they would be neglecting their children and not they will perform in their work. This is normally due to the fact that Colombian society is not yet a developed society to break this type of denigrating stereotypes for the female gender. Little by little this stereotype is being broken and giving more importance to the working life of women outside the home. However, there are also differences in cultures. For example, there are contrary stereotypes, such as the belief that all Chinese are very upright and disciplined and that all Colombians are very lazy and disorderly, when in fact within both societies there are many people who do not comply with those stereotypes created by other societies. I think that despite the differences, we could say that both cultures have many similarities which can be used to connect both cultures one day.
